Men Behave More Dominantly Than Women in the Workplace

Based on their Personality Factor Model, persolog GmbH has collected data on people’s behavior in the workplace for years. This model includes the dimensions Dominant, Influencing, Steady, and Cautious. Over 7,000 users have provided us with answers regarding our online questionnaire. They’ve shared insights on how they behave in their specific work environment. In an empirical study, we have now analyzed and compared the data.

The persolog® Personality Report provides an overview of the behaviors of employees in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It also considers other factors such as gender and industry. The second section examines other European countries in a sample and compares them with German employees.

Insights from the persolog® Personality Factor Model

 

The overview of the distribution of behavior styles of the persolog® Personality Factor Model has confirmed many assumptions, but also completely negated some. Generally, it can be said that behavior styles seem relatively evenly distributed in German-speaking countries. However, when looking at other European countries, significant differences emerge: We were particularly intrigued by the strong steady tendency in Norway. Apparently, the working life there is structured differently than in the other countries examined. Another notable result is the strong cautious behavior style in Italy.
When examining genders and industries, prejudices seem to be confirmed once again, prompting reflection. It appears particularly striking to us that behavior tendencies typically exhibited by women still seem to be undesirable in some positions and industries.
