The 3S Method
The basis for change is the human being. Only they alone can sustainably control, change, manage, and further develop themselves. External influences are often the trigger here, but never the reason. Because influence on our thinking, feeling, wanting, and acting can only be taken by ourselves. To do this, it is necessary to break through rigid habits and gain clarity about one’s Self, his/her own strengths, reserves, and weaknesses.
In the persolog® Self-Leadership Profile, we use the 3S method for this purpose.
3S stands for:
S as Self-Reflection
Increased self-reflection helps to align previous thinking, feeling, and acting more strongly with new goals and to break through rigid habits. Self-reflection leads to self-assessment, which determines the quality of our self-leadership. As part of reflection of it selves, a person focuses more on the self-assessments, expectations, feelings, etc. Thinking and behavioral habits are made conscious in the “inner employee conversation” and the current location is determined. Only then can we compare the desired and the current self-image and derive benefits from it.
S as Self-Awareness
Increased self-awareness helps to focus attention more strongly on what the person is currently doing and why they are doing it. Only in this way can they consciously control and manage their thinking and actions. By systematically observing thoughts, emotional reactions, body signals and behavior, as well as situational conditions, they can acquire important information about themselves and others and then consciously steer them in the desired direction. For self-awareness, it is significant to observe and write down familiar behavior and its consequences for a while. After an appropriate analysis, immediate measures can be developed to interrupt already established undesirable behaviors.
S as Self-Regulation
Effective self-regulation means influencing oneself by consciously controlling and changing one’s own actions. By activating these aids, the person can learn to modify their own behavior responsibly in relation to specific target concepts.
With the 3S method, the user of the Self-Leadership Profile can effectively utilize their potential for desired changes in thinking and behavior. They engage in an “inner employee conversation” with themselves and their behavior and set goals to change it. The three steps towards more leadership of themselves build on each other and are inseparably linked. The method “coaches the inner employee” and supports in coping with internal conflicts on the way to achieving goals. Continuous reflection increases the persistence of inner leadership measures and helps to persevere on the way to the goal. It is important that the 3S method only takes effect when applied with initiative and responsibility. External pressure usually does not help to cope with the challenges of everyday life.
The advantages of the 3S method:
More awareness
Extra professional optimism
More constructive thinking attitudes
Better time and action planning
More effective situation control

Better work performance
